Fitting aftermarket air bag load sensors is the key step in turning an air suspension vehicle into a live truck scale. Done well, it gives you accurate axle group weighing for years. This guide walks through the AirRide Scale sensor install, which is designed to upgrade almost any air bag suspension.
Before you begin
Confirm the vehicle runs air bag (air) suspension on each axle group you want to weigh, and gather the AirRide Scale sensors, the Air Link, and basic hand tools. Plan where each sensor and the Air Link will sit so air lines and mounting are tidy.
The 4 stages of sensor installation
- Position sensors. Place a load sensor at each air bag location so it reads the air spring pressure for that group. Mount securely away from damage.
- Route air lines. Connect the sensors into the air bag circuit cleanly, keeping lines tidy and leak free for accurate, stable readings.
- Connect the Air Link. Wire the sensors to the AirRide Air Link hub and power it up. The Air Link gathers all sensors and converts RF to Bluetooth for your phone.
- Test and calibrate. In the Loadsense app, confirm all sensors are detected, then calibrate each axle group against a known weight until the app shows calibration complete.
Get the air right: leak free air lines and healthy air bags are essential. Any leak or soft bag will make a group read low or unstable, so check the air circuit before you calibrate.
Works on air bag suspension only. AirRide Scale reads load through the air springs, so it fits trucks and trailers running air bag (air) suspension on each axle group you want to weigh. Steel, leaf and mechanical spring axle groups are not supported. If your steer, drive and trailer groups ride on air, you are ready for AirRide Scale.
After installation
- Aftermarket solution. Upgrades most air suspension systems.
- Air bag ready. Works with most air bag setups on trucks and trailers.
- Live data. Weights in real time on the Loadsense app.
- Built for trucks and trailers. Supports up to 16 sensors for multi axle combinations.
Once installed and calibrated, your aftermarket air bag load sensors deliver real time weights you can trust, with optional cloud reporting for fleets across the USA, Canada and Europe.
Install once, weigh every day
Position, route, connect, calibrate. A careful aftermarket sensor install with AirRide Scale gives air bag fleets dependable onboard weighing for the long haul.
