How Do I Fix an Inaccurate Axle Group Weighing Scale?

How do I fix an inaccurate axle group weighing scale? Troubleshoot sensors, air bag pressure and calibration on AirRide Scale to restore accurate onboard weights fast.

If one of your axle groups is showing a weight that does not look right, do not panic. With an air bag scale, an inaccurate reading almost always comes down to one of three things: a sensor issue, an air pressure problem, or calibration drift. Here is how to diagnose and fix an inaccurate axle group weighing scale with AirRide Scale.

1. Check sensor connections

Loose, dirty or damaged sensor connections are the most common cause of odd readings. In the Loadsense app diagnostics view, confirm every sensor is detected. Then physically check that each RF sensor on the air bag group is secure and undamaged. A single sensor dropping out will throw off that group.

2. Inspect air bag pressure

Because the system reads load through the air springs, the air bags themselves must be healthy. Look for an air leak, a perished bag, or uneven pressure across the group. If one bag in a group is soft, the weight for that group will read low or unstable. Fix the air fault first, then re check the reading.

3. Recalibrate the scale

If the sensors are fine and the air bags are healthy but readings are consistently high or low, calibration has likely drifted. Recalibrate that axle group against a known weight in the app. This resets the relationship between pressure and weight and is the cure for a steady offset.

Quick diagnosis: a sudden jump on one group points to a sensor or air leak. A steady offset across the board points to calibration. Use the app diagnostics to tell them apart before you reach for a spanner.

4. Confirm correct setup

Finally, verify your configuration: the right number of axle groups, the correct sensors assigned to each group, and any lift axles set correctly. A misassigned sensor can make a group read wrong even when every part is working.

Works on air bag suspension only. AirRide Scale reads load through the air springs, so it fits trucks and trailers running air bag (air) suspension on each axle group you want to weigh. Steel, leaf and mechanical spring axle groups are not supported. If your steer, drive and trailer groups ride on air, you are ready for AirRide Scale.

Back on the road faster

Sensors, air pressure, calibration, setup. Work that order and most accuracy problems are solved without downtime, keeping your onboard weighing precise and your loads legal.
